Listen to your Angels
If you’re like me, you’ve probably had moments when you ignored your inner voice.
That quiet knowing.
That gentle nudge.
That whisper that doesn’t shout—but waits.
For a long time, I didn’t trust mine. Until two moments changed everything.
When Love Interrupted My Darkness
In my second year of university, I was carrying a trauma I didn’t feel safe sharing with anyone. I felt isolated, overwhelmed, and deeply alone. I didn’t know how to ask for help, and in that hopelessness, I made a contingency plan—just in case things became unbearable.
I grew up in Hamilton, Ontario, near the Niagara Escarpment. One day, I drove up the Kenilworth Access, scanning the edge of the mountain, trying to find what I believed would be a “solution.” When I couldn’t find a place, I started driving back down—disappointed, numb, exhausted.
Then something unexpected happened.
A wave of pure love flooded my body. It wasn’t subtle. It wasn’t imagined. It was overwhelming and immediate. In that moment, something inside me shifted. I felt filled with purpose, clarity, and resolve. I began speaking to myself with conviction: I am going to become a teacher. I am going to make a difference. If things ever get this bad again, I will talk to someone.
That day, I felt touched by something greater than me.
I still believe divine intervention saved my life.
The Voice That Knows Before We Do
Years later, I had another unmistakable encounter with that inner guidance.
I was driving to a friend’s house in the winter on a rural road. Despite storm conditions, I felt confident—too confident. Suddenly, I heard a clear message:
“Slow down.”
As I’d done many times before, I argued with it. I dismissed it.
There’s barely any snow on the road.
Then I rounded a curve and saw what I hadn’t anticipated—a massive snowdrift blocking my path. Panic rose in my body. I knew instinctively that slamming the brakes would make things worse.
Inside, I asked, What do I do?
The response was immediate:
“Take your hands off the wheel.”
I listened.
The car hit the drift, fishtailed wildly, and came to rest in a ditch—facing the opposite direction. I sat there, stunned. Not a scratch on me. The car was intact. I was shaken, but safe.
That voice hadn’t been dramatic.
It hadn’t begged.
It had simply spoken truth.
What I’ve Learned
Our inner voice—call it intuition, higher self, angels, divine wisdom—doesn’t need to convince us. It doesn’t argue. It offers guidance rooted in protection, compassion, and clarity.
But to hear it, we must create space.
In my work with clients, I see this again and again:
When we slow down, release old burdens, and feel truly held, that voice becomes easier to recognize. Transformation doesn’t happen because someone fixes you—it happens because you reconnect with what was always within you.
